Hi friends, it's Trend Highlight time! Here I'll be showcasing some of my favorite trends of the moment with a few outfit photos with (hopefully) some inspiration for you and also giving you some fun tips & tricks so that you can own these trends!

This first trend I'm super into right now, as you can see from the title, is pattern blocking! Pattern blocking, similar to color blocking, is wearing different articles of patterned clothing right next to each other. It's also a fun way to give new life to pieces in your closet that you might not have given a second glance at recently. Sometimes we get so bored with our clothing that I feel like I always need to go out and buy MORE. (At least I do!) Instead, why don't you challenge yourself this week and try to find a couple patterned pieces in your closet that you haven't been fond of lately, and pair them together!

Here are a few tips for optimum pattern blocking ;)

  • I like to see stripes as the neutral of patterns, you can pair almost any pattern with stripes and it'll most likely look great! Yes, even more stripes- and you can quote me on that!
  • An easy way to get into pattern blocking is pairing a small pattern with a bigger pattern. For example, a thicker stripe with a small polka dot print (much like my overall outfit pictured!) or vice versa.
  • Pairing black and white patterns with color is a sure way to make your pattern blocked looks fun and statement-worthy!

  • Monochrome looks are always fun, you can't go wrong pairing a couple fun, patterned pieces in the same color together! (like that all red outfit I have on right up there!)
  • If you feel like you have a lot going on, take a second and add an accessory or two, before you say you hate the outfit. Sometimes you just need to break up the patterns with a bag, belt, or pop of color!

It's all in what makes you feel like YOU, always have fun with it and wear what makes you happy! :)

Hugs & Churros,
Tanya
